About the town

Jay, Vermont.

Jay sits at the top of Orleans County, right on the Canadian border, where the northern Green Mountains rise along the western edge of town. It is named for founding father John Jay, and its highest point, North Jay Peak, reaches 3,438 feet.

The town lends its name to Jay Peak Resort, which sits on the mountain along Jay's line with neighboring Westfield. Winter brings skiers and riders chasing the area's famous snow, while the rest of the year the resort draws families with its indoor waterpark, golf course and aerial tram rides. Away from the slopes, Jay is a quiet, wooded town of a few hundred residents, so a meal here often pairs with a drive through the surrounding valleys.
