About the town

Irasburg, Vermont.

Irasburg is a small Orleans County town centered on a classic village common, with the Black River curving past on its way north toward Lake Memphremagog. The Barton River crosses the eastern side of town, and the land in between is a quiet mix of farms, woods and rolling hills.

Tradition runs deep here. A church fair with an auction and homemade baked goods has been held every year since 1952, and a summer foot race starts and finishes right on the common. The Lord's Creek Covered Bridge, built in 1881, makes a pleasant detour, and the Leach Public Library anchors village life. Fall color is a highlight, and Newport's lakeside restaurants are an easy drive north.
