NEKNow (neknow.com) is an independent food and dining guide to Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it. Questions: [email protected].

Browsing the site

You can use NEKNow without an account. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages people visit and how they found us). It sets cookies and Google processes that data under its privacy policy; you can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies. We don't sell your data. Our server also keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to keep the site running and stop abuse.

If you sign in

To post reviews and collect badges you sign in with Google, Facebook or a link we email you. We store:

• Your email address, used to sign you in and to tell you when a review is approved. It's never shown publicly or sold.
• Your display name, which you choose and can change. It appears on your reviews and your public profile page.
• Your Google or Facebook account ID, only to recognize you next time. We ask those services for your name and email only. We never post to your accounts or see your friends or contacts.
• Your profile photo, if you upload one or sign in with Google or Facebook (we copy that account's profile picture; you can change or remove it any time on your profile).
• Your reviews, ratings and photos, which appear publicly once approved. We remove location data from photos when you upload them.
• Check-ins. When you tap "Check me in", your browser shares your location once. We use it to measure your distance from the place and keep only that distance, not your location.

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in. Giveaway entries are covered by the giveaway rules.

Businesses

If you buy a featured listing, payment is handled by Square; we never see your card number. We keep your name, email and purchase details to run your listing.

Deleting your account and data

Signed in? Go to your profile and use Delete my account at the bottom. It permanently removes your account, reviews, photos, badges and any Google or Facebook connection right away.

Can't sign in, or signed up with Facebook and want your data removed? Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll delete everything within 30 days. You can also remove NEKNow from your Facebook account under Settings & privacy, Settings, Apps and websites.
