About the town

Westfield, Vermont.

Westfield is a small farming town on Route 100 in western Orleans County, set in a valley below the northern Green Mountains. Hazens Notch, a high pass through those mountains, lies within its borders, and the village itself is a modest cluster of homes, a church and the Hitchcock Memorial Museum and Library.

Food lovers may know the name from Butterworks Farm, the Jersey cow dairy here that made Vermont's first organic yogurt and still sells it across the region. The town is also home to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Abbey, a community of Benedictine nuns founded in 1981. Expect pastoral scenery, bright fall foliage and long winters rather than a busy main street.
