The Northeast Kingdom is a big place with small towns. Where to eat is spread over a dozen websites, a few Facebook pages and whoever's at the counter. We put it all in one place: diners, general-store delis, bakeries, pubs, creemee stands, food trucks and the odd supper club, with hours, menus and ratings.

Where the information comes from.

Featured listings.

Some places pay to be featured: pinned first in their town, shown in the homepage's "Featured in the Kingdom" row, and given a bigger map pin. They're always labeled "Featured." Paying never changes a place's ratings, reviews or description, and never buys a spot in the most-loved six. Own a place? Here's how to feature it.

How the favorites are picked.

We combine every site into one rating, weighted by how many people reviewed, then estimate how many of those reviews were good ones. A 4.7 with 900 reviews beats a 5.0 with eight. "Best reviewed" works the same way, so a handful of perfect scores can't leapfrog a long track record.

"Open now" uses Vermont time and the hours we have on file. Plenty of places change things up depending on season, so call ahead when it matters.
