About the town

Danville, Vermont.

Danville sits along U.S. Route 2 a few miles west of St. Johnsbury, in the rolling farm and forest country of Caledonia County. Its main village is built around a broad town green with a Civil War memorial, and the Pope Memorial Library stands right on the green.

West Danville is home to Joe's Pond, a summer favorite for swimming, boating and fishing, and the site of a well-loved spring contest where people guess the exact moment the ice goes out. Danville is also the longtime headquarters of the American Society of Dowsers. With the Kittredge Hills to the west and St. Johnsbury close by, it makes a handy base for exploring the southern part of the Kingdom.
