About the town

Lyndon, Vermont.

Lyndon fills a broad stretch of the Passumpsic River valley in Caledonia County and bills itself as the Gateway to the Northeast Kingdom. Interstate 91 and US Route 5 run through town, and Route 114 heads northeast from Lyndonville toward Burke.

Lyndonville is the main village and commercial center, and the town also takes in Lyndon Center, Lyndon Corner and a few smaller hamlets. Lyndon is home to a campus of Vermont State University and several historic covered bridges. Telephone pioneer Theodore Vail lived here and built Vermont's first paved road. Up on Darling Hill, part of the Kingdom Trails network draws mountain bikers in summer and Nordic skiers in winter, making Lyndon a handy base for food and adventure in every season.
