About the town

Walden, Vermont.

Walden is a rural, forested town in the northwest corner of Caledonia County, strung along Route 15 between Hardwick and Danville. It has no single village center. Instead, residents identify with small clusters such as Walden Heights, South Walden, Noyesville and the area around Coles Pond, and the town does not even have its own ZIP code.

The appeal here is the outdoors. Coles Pond and Lyford Pond sit within a large state wildlife management area open for fishing, hiking and wildlife watching, and Stannard Mountain rises near the northern town line. The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail crosses town and gets use in every season, winter brings snowmobilers, and spring means maple sugaring. Plan on nearby towns for meals.
