About the town

Morgan, Vermont.

Morgan is the easternmost town in Orleans County, a lake and forest community with two small villages, Morgan and Morgan Center. The town website calls it the home of Seymour Lake, and with good reason.

Seymour Lake covers about 1,732 acres and sits entirely within Morgan, making it the third largest lake contained wholly in Vermont, after Willoughby Lake and Lake Bomoseen. Summer brings swimmers, paddlers and anglers to the water, and camps and cottages dot the shoreline. Fall color around the lake is striking, and winters are snowy and quiet. Morgan itself is small, so plan to pair a lake day with meals in nearby Derby or Newport.
