About the town

Concord, Vermont.

Concord is the southernmost town in Essex County, stretching from the edge of St. Johnsbury to the Connecticut River and the New Hampshire line. U.S. Route 2 crosses the town and passes through Concord village, and smaller settlements include North Concord, East Concord, Concord Corner and Miles Pond.

Water is a big part of the scenery here. Miles Pond sits in the east of town, Shadow Lake in the southwest, and part of the broad Moore Reservoir on the Connecticut River lines the southern edge. Concord also has a place in education history: in 1823 Samuel Read Hall opened the country's first school for training teachers here. St. Johnsbury's restaurants are a short drive west.
