About the town
Burke, Vermont.
Burke is the outdoor playground of the Northeast Kingdom, built around 3,271-foot Burke Mountain. The town has three villages: East Burke, the lively hub along Route 114, West Burke on U.S. Route 5, and quiet Burke Hollow. Lake Willoughby and its cliffs lie just to the north.
Winter means skiing and riding at Burke Mountain Resort, home to the well-known Burke Mountain Academy. When the snow melts, East Burke fills with mountain bikers riding the Kingdom Trails network, and fall foliage draws leaf peepers and hikers. Local events include a strawberry festival and a fall festival. With trail riders and skiers to feed, East Burke has some of the area's busiest cafes and restaurants.
