The Genny (Albany)
Albany, Vermont $
The lowdown
Albany's community-owned general store, rebuilt by a local trust after the old store burned in 2013 and reopened in 2021 by the team behind Craftsbury's Genny. Beyond groceries it runs a busy deli with smashburgers, cheesesteaks, pizza and breakfast burritos, a seating area, a porch freezer of free ready-made meals for neighbors in need, and summer concerts.
